Aluminium Alloy 2017 Round Bars

Aluminium Alloy 2017 Round Bars Aluminium Alloy 2017 has good ductility and an intermediate strength and is heat treatable (age-hardening). They are commonly used in the production of pulleys, gauges, coat hangers, screw machine fittings, crochet and knitting needles, and pulleys. The T4 temper of this alloy has excellent machinability. Machinability is less favourable in the annealed condition. Therefore, it is ideal to machine Aluminium Alloy 2017 while it is in the T4 condition. For all machining operations, the use of oil lubricants is advised.Aluminium Alloy 2017 Round Bars can be welded, although the heat from the weld will decrease the corrosion resistance. In general, welding should be avoided unless it is possible to restore corrosion resistance through heat treatment following welding. Aluminium Alloy 2017 Round Bar is susceptible to cracking, so fixturing must be designed to minimise any strain during welding. Inert gas welding and resistance welding are the techniques that should be employed.
